Steve Hutensky

Steve Hutensky, a film producer of some renown, has produced a number of films to date, but none will likely ever come close to capturing the public imagination like his take on “The Princess Bride.” Released in 1993, “The Princess Bride” remains one of those films still enjoyed by people worldwide.

Here are five things you may not know about Steve Hutensky:

1) He is practically ageless.

2) He likes to hike and run.

3) His favorite movie genre is comedy.

4) He loves working with stars like Lawrence Fishburne, Cary Elwes from “The Princess Bride, ” and Robin Wright from House of Cards.”

5) He is the father of seven children.

Most New Jerseyans know Steve Hutensky as the producer of “The Princess Bride”, Many people are also well aware that he lives in Monmouth County with his family. Fewer people, however, know that Steve was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and has been a pioneer in film production since 1965 – first working in television commercial production (including coffee commercials) and then moving into feature films with his first producing feature film being 1970s blaxploitation drama “The Wild Bunch.”

In 2010, Steve Hutensky was inducted into the International Black Film Festival Hall of Fame, held yearly at Cinema Village in New York City. Steve established the production company Made Up Stories in early 2017, serving as executive producer along with his long-time business partner and producing partner, Bob DeSalva.

Hutensky’s directing debut was in 1987 for the television movie “Sisters,” starring Deborah Foreman, Heather Langenkamp, and Toni Mager. The film follows a trio of sisters whose lives dramatically change after each sister is diagnosed with cancer. In 1990 Hutensky released his first feature film, which follows a female journalist who travels to Los Angeles to investigate the mysterious death of a famous silent-film star (a la L.A.
