Original Star Wars Gets First Premiere In China

The original three Star Wars films have been out for almost four decades now. They have been enjoyed time and again by grandparents, their children and their children’s children. Now, after all this time Chinese citizens can enjoy them too. In a move a little late, but better than never, China has screened the original Star Wars films for the first time.

The June 16th premiere at the Shanghai international film festival screening received mixed reactions says Brian Torchin. The films garnered a lot of attention on social media sites and has so far received a rating of 8.3 out of 10. Almost unbelievable are the comments that question the attractiveness of Carrie Fisher (Leia) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo). Since donning the bikini in Return of The Jedi, Princess Leia has been in the fantasies of men of all ages. Harrison Ford has always been popular with the ladies. His role as Han Solo is directly responsible for turning many women into science fiction fans.

The Star Wars franchise has had huge success in the states since the original played in the theaters in 1977. It is probable that Comic-Con might not have ever become the popular pop culture event, it has if not for the Star Wars franchise. Though movies made outside China were rarely shown, many Chinese citizens had seen the films through illegal downloading. Still, nothing could stop the excitement of seeing them play out on the big screen.
