Jason Hughes is an independent, modern-art photographer based in San Diego. He captures the world around him in a new light with his innovative creativity and a distinct eye for beauty. The name “Jason Hughes” is synonymous with art photography: from black and white to color prints to large-scale murals on walls of buildings all over San Diego County.

Jason Hughes was inspired to create a free iPhone application called “Stark Black” when he saw how famous and innovative apps like Instagram had become on multiple platforms. 

“Stark Black” is designed to make the users feel like they are a part of Jason Hughes’ art. He has also produced “The Better Photo Project,” a collaborative effort designed to provide knowledge, guidance, and motivation to people who want to improve their photography skills. It is an open-source project meant for everyone. He believes everyone can improve their photography skills with the correct information and motivation.

He began to formalize his skills at age 17 when he took a photography class at the SDSU School of Business Administration and graduated from there.

Jason Hughes advocates and promotes local artists to better their chances of making it big in their career of choice and himself. 

CEO and entrepreneur Jason Hughes is co-founder and current president of “The Better Photo Project.” He finds inspiration in many things and artists, but the one who inspired the business advisor the most is the famous Francisco Goya, whose work helped him find the way he wanted to shoot. Even though the styles are very different, he finds inspiration in Goya’s use of color and light.
